Hellboy II is technically rock-solid, which isn't a surprise as it was directed by Guillermo del Toro. And I love the cast and characters. But the story never really came together for me.
I'd give it 2.5 stars, but Mr. Ebert says 3.5.

I really liked the focus on Abe Sapien. Plus the combo of conventional and CG effects was great. Other than that the story was just okay. 2.5 sounds about right.
