Stacey and I have been talking about getting rid of our Dish Network system and getting all our television from the Internet (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and over-the-air (ABC, NBC, etc.). I took the first step in that direction last night when I connected an antenna to our big TV.
You can't really tell it from this photo, but the picture quality is very nice.
Seven channels down and... several to go.
I also bought a USB TV tuner thing (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950Q) only to find out it is not-at-all compatible with the Mac. Maybe the whole "WinTV" thing should have tipped me off.

i ditched my cable a little over a year ago and haven't looked back. the only thing i'm lacking is a good way to watch soccer, but i was probably mindlessly watching too much of that anyway. i really only use netflix now.
i think it's almost better to just pull the plug and then fix the bumps than try and plan everything out in advance. i found that i didn't really miss much. although, i also didn't watch in broadcast t.v.
it hasn't really improved my productivity either unfortunately.
it really came down to the fact that as long as i was giving the cable company money they weren't ever going to change. if they had a-la-carte channels i would probably be fine, but i was tired of funding channels i disagree with (fox news) and paying $50 to get the privelege of paying for the channels i actually want.
good luck.
